Spotlight Report on the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development Voluntary National Review (VNR) of Ghana

Despite Ghana’s commitment to Agenda 2030 and the principle of leaving no one behind, intersex persons in Ghana continue to experience significant marginalization and exclusion. This spotlight report, developed by the Intersex Persons Society of Ghana with the support of RFSL, presents evidence from community-led consultations and a nationwide survey of intersex individuals.

The report offers an in-depth, data-informed analysis of Ghana’s progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—with a focus on Goals 3, 5, 8, 10, 16, and 17—through an intersex-inclusive lens. It also highlights the lack of meaningful engagement with intersex communities in Ghana’s 2025 Voluntary National Review (VNR) process.

SDGs under review in this Spotlight Report:

  1. SDG 3 - Good Health and Well-being

  2. SDG 5 - Gender Equality

  3. SDG 8- Decent work and economic growth

  4. SDG 10 - Reduced Inequalities

  5. SDG 16 - Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
