Spotlight Report on the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development Voluntary National Review (VNR) of Kenya

Kenya is actively working to achieve various SDGs, including SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Despite these efforts, more focus is needed to ensure that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTQI) people are fully included and not left behind. This report highlights Kenya’s accomplishments and the relevance of campaigning for the equitable treatment and integration of LGBTQI people in all their programs and efforts connected to SDGs 1, 2, 13, 16, and 17, emphasizing the importance of addressing their gaps in the quest for sustainability.

This report was developed by LGBTIQ activists from Kenya and was supported by the Free to be Me programme and The Power of Pride alliance that brings together COC, Pan African ILGA and ILGA Asia in a five-year partnership (2021-2025) with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
