Spotlight Report on the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development Voluntary National Review (VNR) of Tajikistan

Tajikistan is a Central Asian country that has ratified most of the core UN human rights instruments and has committed to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.

Tajikistan endorsed the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at the United Nations Summit in September 2015. The new agenda, which implies the country's transition from the MDGs to the SDGs, is based on a comprehensive and inclusive approach to sustainable development in Tajikistan.

The report was prepared by anonymous researchers in the field of LGBTIQ+ community, who are unable to disclose their personal information due to security reasons. The researchers represent the Central Asian Gender and Sexuality Advocacy Network (CAGSAN). The network includes activists from four Central Asian countries working for human rights, health, and well-being of LGBTIQ+ people. The network receives information directly from the LGBTIQ+ community in Tajikistan. In addition, publicly available materials were used in the report. This report was supported by The Power of Pride alliance that brings together COC, Pan African ILGA and ILGA Asia in a five-year partnership (2021-2025) with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
